How syncing works

How your activity gets from your phone into Moves+, and when it turns into points.

User role: App member

Applies to: iPhone | Android

Module: Moves+ app > Home

What a sync is

Your watch or fitness app records your activity in Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). Moves+ reads that activity from your phone, sends it to us and turns it into points. This is a sync.

Because the activity is stored on your phone, Moves+ has to be open to read it.

When Moves+ syncs

  • When you open the app.
  • When you pull down on Home. This is a manual sync.

There is no background or overnight sync, and no notification when a sync finishes. While a sync is running, Home shows Sync In Progress.

If you still use Garmin, Garmin sends your activity to Moves+ from Garmin Connect. Make sure Garmin Connect has synced with your watch.

How far back a sync reads

  • When you connect or reconnect a tracker, Moves+ reads the last 30 days.
  • After that, each sync reads the last 7 days.

Points count from the day you joined Moves+, including that day. Activity before you joined does not earn points, even if a sync reads it.

So open Moves+ at least once a week, and ideally every day. If you leave it longer than 7 days, older activity is not picked up.

Where your activity appears

  • Today's Activity Summary on Home shows today's points and activity. It shows 0 until today's activity arrives.
  • View older activity on Home opens Your activity: a day-by-day list for the last 30 days, with the points earned for each activity.

Points, challenge progress and your profile update once the sync has finished.
