How to create and edit a user survey

Set up your organisation's user survey and change its questions and answers.

Time required: 10 minutes

User role: Administrator

Module: Moves+ admin > Engage > User Survey

Before you start

  • Your organisation has one user survey. Moves+ creates it for you, with a placeholder title and two placeholder questions. You edit this survey. You cannot add a second one or delete it.
  • Members answer the survey when they create their account. They are asked again each time the survey runs, and can skip those later rounds.
  • You can have 1 to 6 questions. Each question needs 2 to 6 answers.

Set up the survey

1. Open User Survey

In the sidebar, click User Survey.

2. Set the title and schedule

Under Manage User Survey, enter a Title, choose Days Between Asking and Buffer, then click Save. See User survey settings for what each setting does.

3. Add a question

Under Manage Questions, click Add New Question. Enter the Title (your question) and click Save. Moves+ adds two placeholder answers, Answer #1 and Answer #2.

4. Write the answers

Click Edit next to the question.

Edit Survey question

Under Manage Answers:

  • Click Edit next to each placeholder answer, enter your wording and click Save.
  • Click Add New Answer to add more options, for example "Under 1 hour" or "1 to 2 hours".
Manage survey answers

Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each question. Replace or delete the placeholder questions before members see the survey.

Change a question

Reword a question or answer

Click Edit, change the Title and click Save. Past responses stay in your reports, but show the new wording.

Use this for small fixes, such as a typo or clearer wording.

Replace a question

  1. Download your past results from a report on the Moves Surveys data source. See How to download and schedule reports.
  2. Click Add New Question and set up the new question and its answers.
  3. Click Delete next to the old question.

Important: deleting a question or an answer removes all of its past responses from your reports. This cannot be undone. Download your results first.
