Send a push notification to members now or at a set time, and check how many it reached.
Time required: 5 minutes
User role: Administrator
Module: Moves+ admin > App Notifications
Use app notifications for news, new rewards or challenge reminders. Members get a push on their phone, and the full message in the app's Inbox.
Send a notification
1. Open the form
In the sidebar, select App Notifications, then Create New Notification.
2. Write the content
- Title: 3 to 128 characters.
- Body (Simple): 3 to 255 characters of plain text. This is the push members see on their phone.
- Body (Full): up to 1,024 characters. This is shown in the app's Inbox and supports Markdown. You can repeat the simple text here or write more.
3. Choose the audience
The Who can you reach? panel shows how many of your members can receive a push. Choose a Target audience:
| Target audience | Who it includes |
|---|---|
| All Active Users (default) | Users who have used Moves+ within your inactivity threshold. |
| All Users | Active and inactive users. Use it to win back people who have gone quiet. |
| Challenge Members | Users who have joined the challenge you pick in Challenge. |
| Challenge Non-Members | Active users who have not joined the challenge you pick in Challenge. |
Then check the Exclusion filters. All are ticked by default, and a ticked filter removes those users:
- users without a device token (never installed the app, or uninstalled it)
- users with no recent activity (does not apply to All Users)
- users without an active tracker
- blocked, deactivated and deleted users
To reach only members with certain trackers, tick them under Tracker type. The form shows a live count of the audience.
4. Choose when to send
- Send immediately: sends as soon as you confirm.
- Schedule for later: pick a Date and time between 07:00 and 19:00 in your organisation's timezone, up to 30 days ahead.
5. Send or schedule
Select Send Now and confirm the number of users, or select Schedule Notification.
You cannot undo an immediate send: once you confirm Send Now, the notification goes out. Check the text and audience count first.
Result
The notification appears in the App Notifications list with its status: Draft, Scheduled, Sending, Sent, Failed or Cancelled.
- Check delivery: select View. The page shows the Audience and how many were Sent, Failed or Skipped.
- Cancel a scheduled notification: select Cancel in the list, or Cancel Notification on its page, before it is sent.
