How do I create a private group?

How to create your own private group in the Moves+ app, invite friends to it, and set a shared group goal.

Time required: 5 minutes

User role: App user

Applies to: iPhone and Android

Module: Moves+ app > Explore > Groups

Overview

Private groups are created by you, for other Moves+ users. They are a way to keep a challenge between friends, a team or a course group.

  • You become the group admin of any group you create. Everyone who accepts your invite is a member.
  • As group admin you set and manage the group's group goals.
  • Activity from every member counts towards a group goal.

Open your Moves+ app.

Troubleshooting

Can my group be removed?
Yes. Although you created it, your organisation's administrator can delete a private group if they feel it does not fit what Moves+ is for at your organisation. Keep your group relevant and friendly and this will not be an issue.

Who can see my private group?
Only people you invite. See What are Public and Private Groups?

Can I invite someone who is not on Moves+?
No. They need a Moves+ account at your organisation first. See How to invite a friend to Moves+.

How many people can join?
There is no limit set by the app. Bear in mind that a group goal gets easier the more members you add, since everyone's activity counts towards it.
