How to connect Health Connect to Moves+ on your Android phone, so your activity earns points.
Time required: 3 minutes
User role: App member
Applies to: Android
Module: Moves+ app > Profile > Edit Profile > My Tracker
Before you start
- Update Moves+ to the latest version from the Play Store, and sign in.
- Make sure an app is sharing your activity with Health Connect, such as your phone's fitness app or your wearable's app. Health Connect does not record anything itself. See Does Health Connect automatically track my steps?
- You can connect one tracker at a time. If another tracker is shown in My Tracker, disconnect it first. See What happens if I disconnect or change my tracker?
Steps
1. Open Profile
Open Moves+ and tap Profile.
2. Tap Edit Profile
3. Go to My Tracker
Tap My Tracker.
4. Tap Connect next to Health Connect
If a message about connecting a tracker appears, tap Got it.
5. Install or update Health Connect, if asked
If Health Connect is missing or out of date, Moves+ sends you to the Play Store. Install or update it, follow the on-screen setup, then go back to Moves+.
6. Allow access
Turn on Steps, Distance and Exercise, then tap Allow. A missing permission is the most common reason activity does not arrive.
7. Tap Continue
When Moves+ confirms your tracker is connected, tap Continue. Moves+ starts syncing and shows Sync In Progress on Home.
Result
Health Connect is connected. Moves+ reads up to the last 30 days of your activity, and points count from the day you joined Moves+.
After that, Moves+ syncs each time you open the app or pull down on Home. Moves+ only reads from Health Connect. It never writes anything back.
To change what Moves+ can read later, open Health Connect and tap App permissions, then Moves+.
