How to create an Activity Category - ACV2

Summary

This guide walks you through the process of creating an activity category in the system. Activity categories help customers filter the types of activities they want to book and assist your Front of House (FOH) staff in efficiently booking customers into specific activities. Examples of activity categories include Fitness Classes or Tennis Activities.

Important Note

In V2, it is not possible to edit or delete Activity Categories after they have been created. Please double-check all details before saving.


Step-by-Step Guide

1. Navigate to the Activities V2 Section

  • From the home page, go to Activities V2.

2. Select 'Categories'

  • In the menu, click on Categories.

3. Create a New Category

  • Click the 'Create a New Category' button.

4. Fill in the Required Details

a. Select a Category Type

  • Choose one of the following options:
    • Activity Category: For activities like fitness classes, tennis lessons, etc.

    • Parent Group: For grouping multiple categories together (e.g., grouping all fitness-related activities).

b. Enter the Category or Group Name

  • If Activity Category: Enter the specific activity name (e.g., Yoga Classes, Swimming Sessions).

  • If Parent Group: Enter the parent group's name (e.g., Fitness, Sports).

c. Select the Booking Type

  • Choose the booking type that applies to this category:
    • Class Bookings: For classes with scheduled times (e.g., yoga, dance).

    • Resource Bookings: For bookings tied to resources (e.g., tennis courts, Football Pitch).

    • Ticketed Bookings: For events requiring tickets (e.g., Races, Shows, Group Swimming).

d. Add a Slug (optional)

  • Slugs are URL-friendly identifiers for this category. Ensure they are clean, descriptive, and easy to read (e.g., yoga-classes or tennis-lessons).

e. Assign a Parent Group (optional)

  • If the category type selected is not a Parent Group, you can assign this category to an existing Parent Group.
  • If you have added an incorrect Parent Group by mistake, you can delete it before saving by clicking the 'Delete' button.

5. Save the Category

  • Review all the details carefully. Once confirmed, click 'Save Category'.
    • Reminder: Double-check all details as categories cannot be edited or deleted once saved.
