Intro to Adjustments

This article covers the adding and managing adjustments at different levels, the different types of adjustments and a range of restrictions that can be used.

Global / Setting Group / Centre

Like prices, adjustments can be added at the global, setting group and facility levels. Only one adjustment can qualify, the adjustment that qualifies at the lowest level will always be used, even if it results in a higher price. For example a qualifying Global adjustment resulting in a £5 price will be superseded by a qualifying facility-level adjustment resulting in a £6 price, if the customer is at that facility. This allows lower levels to increase or decrease the price, to ensure the lowest price wins adjustments should be set up at the same level.

The exception to this is price override adjustments which will always be used even if another adjustment at the same level results in a lower price.

Adjustment types

Adjustment type Description
% discount

Each qualifying price will be reduced by the specified percentage.

Eg: 10% discount adjustment of a £10 price would result in a £9 price.

Fixed amount

Each qualifying price will be set to the fixed amount specified.

Eg: a £4 fixed amount adjustment of a £10 price would result in a £4 price.

Fixed discount

Each qualifying price will be reduced by the fixed discount amount specified, with a minimum of £0.

Eg: a £4 fixed discount adjustment of a £10 price would result in a £6 price.

Price override

Price override adjustments behave like fixed amount adjustments, with the difference that the resulting price will be used even if there are other qualifying prices that are lower.

Eg: with one qualifying price of £5, and one qualifying price with a price override adjustment of £8, the resulting price will be £8.

Membership Type & Membership Group Restriction

If only a membership group is selected, the adjustment will qualify for customers with a membership within that group. If a specific Membership is also provided, the adjustment will only qualify for customers with that specific membership. If a customer has multiple memberships, then more than one membership-restricted adjustment may be applied to the qualifying prices.

Age restriction

When specified, this adjustment will only qualify for customers between the two ages specified (inclusive). When the customer’s age is not known or the customer is completely anonymous, setting an age restriction will disqualify this adjustment completely.

Timeband restriction

When selected, the adjustment will only qualify when either the current date & time, or the date and time of the activity being booked, falls within the time band specified.

Home centre override

Option Description
Only apply adjustment if this IS the customer's home centre This adjustment will only qualify if the customer is known, has at least one membership, and they are attempting to purchase an item or book an activity at the membership’s home centre. If the customer has multiple memberships with different home centres, any of them will qualify.
Only apply adjustment if this is NOT the customer's home centre but is included in their membership

This adjustment will only qualify if the customer is known, has at least one membership, and they are attempting to purchase an item or book an activity at a facility within any of their membership’s area groups. If the facility is one of their membership’s home centres, this adjustment will not qualify.

Only apply adjustment if this is the customer's home centre, OR it is included in their membership This adjustment will qualify if the customer is known, has at least one membership, and they are attempting to purchase an item or book an activity at a facility within any of their memberships’ area groups, including their home centres.

Outside-membership adjustment

With this option checked, this adjustment will only be applied if the user has at least one membership, but is booking an activity or purchasing a product at a facility that is not included in any of their memberships’ area groups.

Adjustment groups

This adjustment rule will prevent the adjustment from being reapplied after the related item has been purchased, there are a few exceptions and nuances to this option & it is easiest explained via some scenarios.

  • Child, Adult, and Family Activity Tickets are all using this pricing option adjustment rule.
  • Child costs 5 pounds before the application of this adjustment
  • Adult costs 10 pounds before the application of this adjustment
  • Family costs 20 pounds before the application of this adjustment
  • The adjustment using this rule has a 100% discount

When the user comes around to purchase the item using this pricing option adjustment, the first time they purchase the item the adjustment will qualify itself. This adjustment will always apply to the most expensive item in the cart. If we consider the following example:

  • A user is purchasing the swim ticket for the session at 9:00 AM, they add a Family ticket, a Child ticket, and an Adult ticket.
  • They have never purchased this particular swim ticket before
  • They qualify for every aspect in the adjustment

In the above scenario, the total cost of the order would be £15.00, because the £20.00 Family ticket has qualified for the discount. If we remove the family ticket from the cart, the order would then cost £5.00, because the next most expensive item using this option is the Adult ticket which costs £10.00, but has been discounted 100%.

If the user successfully pays for the order & books the activity, then adds the session at 9:00 AM to their cart they would pay the full amount & this adjustment would be disqualified. However, if there was a session at 10:00 AM and the user then booked that session, it would be treated as a brand new purchase & the adjustment could then qualify again.
